Student engagement and motivation are urgent priorities. Fostering student engagement and motivation starts with how we, as educators, show up. Teacher presence is a deliberate stance we take for our students—the support we provide, the relationships we build with intention, and the balance we strike between structure and student agency.
This pop-up course invites you to rethink your perspective on teacher presence and explore powerful shifts you can take that help move students from compliance to true engagement. Drawing from coaching stances and research on motivation, we’ll consider sustainable teacher moves—in instruction and in how we care for ourselves as educators—that nurture student investment.
Designed to be completed asynchronously in under three hours, you’ll gain deeper understanding, identify strategies, and have the opportunity to design a practical artifact for teacher presence that serves student engagement and motivation. We’ll share our ideas in community, leaving not only with a ready-to-implement next step but also with ongoing inspiration.
